Measure the width of the installed stair runner.

  1. Add 1.5" (1.50 inch) to the width of the runner:

(Runner Width) + [1.50"] = (Stair Rod Length)
    Example: (33" Runner Width) + [1.50"] = 34.50" Rod Length

  2. Count the number of treads on your staircase.
The number of treads is the number of stair rods you will need.

The recommended length will place the brackets just off the edge of the runner (approx 1/8"). Any addition to the length will provide more reveal between the edge of the runner and the inside of the bracket. The final length of the rod is your design choice.

The rod length is NOT the finished, tip-to-tip length of the stair rods set. Refer to the bracket/finial combination notes on the product pages for required clearances on each side of the runner.

We recommend that you actually measure the INSTALLED runner width. Runner installations may vary from their advertised widths. These rods are easily cut on site. If in doubt, or awaiting installation, it is recommended that the rods be purchased in their stock length and cut on-site, during installation.

Custom lengths are achieved by trimming a Stock Rod Lengths.
